1st Quarter Fundraising

Yesterday's Des Moines Register ran a story on IA-01. The focus was on fundraising.

While most candidates were not inclined to divulge their figures, Bill Dix had no problem sharing that he was able to add another 120K to his growing warchest. Bruce Braley, the field's top fundraiser to date pulled in another 100K.

When the full disclosures come out mid-month, expect a full break-down here at Iowa's First.

This we know about the Republican primary candidates:

1. Bill Dix has the most money.

2. Brian Kennedy has the most specific issue stands and grassroots support. And

3. Mike Whalen has the most ego, Republicrat leanings, ideas for tax hikes, anti-ethanol stands, anger, and did I mention ego.

Yep, Mike's ego is even bigger than he is! Just ask him...he's got a poll ya know.

Whalen should be a spokesperson for breath-rite nasal strips. Seriously, he sounds like he's gonna hyperventilate while he talks about his tax hike ideas...

Do any Democrats post on this blog? Or is this just a Republican bash fest?

It seems to be mostly the GOP bashing on their own guys. On occaision a thread will start with some Dem back and forth (see post below), but not as much as I'd like. If you're a liberal, help me boost my left-wing readership and pass the word on!

So by grassroots support are you referring to like the most acerage in his front yard or what. Because to have the most grassroots support, you need to have grassroots supporters. Revolutionary I know.

Mike! Mike! Mike!

Nope. Grassroots support as in true Republicans who are active within the party and conservative causes.

I'd be impressed if you can find me someone who believes Mike Whalen is truly pro-life to the extent of his conservative opponents.

I'm just saying if its so "undisputed" that Kennedy has the best grassroots, I'd like to know where the beef is to back this statement up? Where are these supporters? What have they been doing? Why haven't I met any of them?

e.f. you are right on!

Anon 4:04...
You are probably the same kind of Republican as Mike Whalen...in voter registration only. If you were a Republican activist, one who has been supporting the Party and the conservative cause for years, who attended GOP meetings, caucuses, and conventions, you would find plenty more Kennedy supporters than Whalen supporters. If you haven't seen any, it's because you're a Mike Whalen Republican.

Anon 4:04,

Get off the basement couch, put the blunt out and go upstairs and ask your folks who they support for congress. Let us know what they say.

I'll check back soon!

Anon 4:52, is that the best you can do? Tell people that Kennedy has young supporters too? Good slam. Maybe they like him because he treats them like human beings, not like dirt to be walked on like Mike Whalen does. Your thoughts?

Maybe Whalen lets his young supporters take home leftovers after they finish cleaning up at his HOA restaurants? Food for votes program?
